Decrease in green cover over the last decade. It's time to act.
From childhood memories to morning walks, Bengaluru's parks have always brought people together. But as the city grows faster, these green spaces need more than maintenance. They need people who care enough to show up. #IamBengaluru is a city-wide movement inviting citizens to volunteer for parks and help revive the Garden City's original colour, character, and community spirit.
Because volunteering for your city isn't charity. It's citizenship.
Help restore shade, biodiversity, and cooler neighborhoods through greener community parks.
Build cleaner, greener parks where children play, families gather, and communities reconnect.
Bengaluru has always been known as India’s Garden City, a city shaped by its parks, green spaces and strong community spirit. As the city grows, its neighbourhood parks need more than just maintenance. They need people who care.
#IamBengaluru – Volunteer for Parks is a citizen-led movement by The Times of India, in association with the Greater Bengaluru Authority and NGO partners, to encourage park volunteering in Bengaluru and bring citizens together to care for the city’s public green spaces.
The initiative connects Bengaluru volunteers, NGOs, resident welfare associations, students, families and local communities through this custom-built digital platform where citizens can discover volunteering opportunities near them and participate in meaningful park activities.
The initiative begins with 50 community parks across five GBA zones, supported by partner NGOs and structured volunteering opportunities. It will then expand to 300 parks, with the long-term vision of inspiring citizen participation across all of Bengaluru’s 1,300+ parks.
From cleanliness drives and park beautification to community engagement, awareness activities and green initiatives, every small act can help make Bengaluru’s parks cleaner, greener and more vibrant.
"Our goal is simple: to make every neighbourhood park a place of pride, belonging and shared responsibility and to take the green spirit of Bengaluru’s iconic parks to communities across the city."
